Book Review: The Unsuspecting Mage by Brian S. Pratt

The Unsuspecting Mage by Brian S. Pratt is the first book in the Morcyth Saga. It’s about highschooler James Rheese who, at the constant urging from his grandfather, goes to a job interview when he is sent to another world for training as a mage. At the time, James has no idea what he got himself into. While trying to find a way home, he discovers that he can control and use magic. As James progresses along, he gets stronger and experienced from dealing with all sorts of enemies, from pirates to thugs and befriends a young boy who followed him around. When he pursues a chance to get home across the ocean, his young friend is kidnapped. Will he find his way home or rescue his friend? This 950-page book is the first of many that will delight readers who love magic and adventure. I will rate this book 5 stars out of five because it had a very good plot and many descriptive terms.
